Chikao Takigawa (瀧川 ちかお Takigawa Chikao) is a minor character in the Hibike! Euphonium series. He is a first-year student in the main series who plays the tenor saxophone.
Appearance[]
Chikao is a young teenage boy with unkempt, messy and black hair that is overall very similar to Noboru Taki's hairstyle and amethyst eyes.
He is often depicted in standard Kitauji High School uniform for male first-year students.
Personality[]
Chikao is a rather quiet boy who doesn't socialize very often. According to Shuuichi Tsukamoto, he isn't particularly smart.

Shuuichi Tsukamoto[]
Chikao and Shuuichi are very close friends where the two met in band, and started hanging out together later on. They have been seen visiting festivals together on a few occasions.
Chieri Takahisa[]
Chikao and Chieri are in a romantic relationship.
Etymology[]
- The name Chikao is written in hiragana (ちか), which has no special meaning. However, when part of the name Chika (2) (ちか) is written in kanji (千佳, 智佳, 千花, 智花 or 散花), it could possibly mean:
- 千佳 - "thousand" (千) (chi) and "good, beautiful" (佳) (ka).
- 智佳 - "wisdom, intellect" (智) (chi) and "good, beautiful" (佳) (ka).
- 千花 - "thousand" (千) (chi) and "flower, blossom" (花) (ka).
- 智花 - "wisdom, intellect" (智) (chi) and "flower, blossom" (花) (ka).
- 散花 - "scatter" (散) (chi) and "flower, blossom" (花) (ka).
- Chikao's surname Takigawa means "waterfall" (瀧) (taki) and "river, stream" (川) (kawa/gawa).
Trivia[]
- Chiako thinks Chieri Takahisa is so cute that he can't stand it.
- In Chikao's second year, he is in class 2–6 with Shuuichi Tsukamoto.
