Hiyoko Ueda (植田 日和子, Ueda Hiyoko) is a supporting character in the Sound! Euphonium series. She is a student at Kitauji High School the same year as Kumiko Oumae who played clarinet in the school's concert band.

Appearance

Hiyoko has dirty brown hair that is tied up in two low braids with bangs swept to the left side, dark red eyes and two tiny fangs (although they are never both visible at the same time).

Personality

Hiyoko seems to be mostly cheerful and recently got hooked on collecting pink things.

Etymology

• The name Hiyoko means "sun, day" (日) (hi), "harmony, peace" (和) (yo) and "child" (子) (ko).
• Hiyoko's surname Ueda means "plant/planting" (植) (ue) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta/da).

• Hiyoko slightly changes how she braids her hair every day.
  • Despite this, she is seen in her two-braids hairstyle throughout the show.
• Hiyoko likes collecting pink things.
• Hiyoko has earned the nickname "Fang-chan".
• Hiyoko has an interesting part progression throughout the show. She starts on 1st Clarinet, then moves to 3rd, and later to 2nd in her respective years.
