Nanami has dark emerald green hair that she tied into one big braid (french braid) and side part bangs. Nanami has wine-red eyes.

Nanami is not used to being praised, so she takes a blunt attitude towards others to hide her embarrassment. She watches over her fellow alto-sax player Seiya Suzuki to ensure he doesn't bother other sections.[1]

The name Nanami means "seven" (七) (nana) and "sea, ocean" (海) (mi).
Nanami's surname Ootaki means "big, great" (大) (oo) and "waterfall, cascade, watering place" (滝) (taki).
