Sound! Euphonium: The Hottest Summer of Kitauji High School Concert Band (響け! ユーフォニアム 北宇治高校吹奏楽部のいちばん熱い夏)} is a manga tankōbon in 2 volumes. It was first published by Kono Manga ga Sugoi! on their website in 2016 before being edited as the second tankōbon. It contains a total of 16 chapters.
The manga was made by Hami with credits to Ayano Takeda for the original story and Nikki Asada for character concepts.
Volume 1[]
The first volume contains 8 chapters that were published on the website from January to April of 2016. Before the first chapter, it starts with a few pages summing up the Prefectural competition. It also has a summary of the characters.
Chapter 1: Welcome back Euphonium[]
The first chapter, Welcome back Euphonium (おかえりユーフォニアム Okaeri Yūfoniamu), starts off on a flashback from the previous year. Mizore Yoroizuka comes to band practice only to discover that Nozomi Kasaki has quit the club. Back to the present, the bass section celebrates on the A group reaching the Kansai competition, and the B group winning gold, and how much things have changed since last year and how the Kansai competition will be harder in order to reach nationals. After practice, Reina exceptionally goes home with Kumiko, and they decide to come together earlier to school to practice more. The next day they arrive early and go ask Taki for the key to the room but Mizore already got it even earlier.
Chapter 2: Quiet Oboe[]
In Quiet Oboe (むくちなオーボエ Mukuchi na Ōboe), Kumiko and Reina enter the classroom early morning and see Mizore already practicing oboe. A few minutes later Asuka Tanaka and Yuuko Yoshikawa also come in. Kumiko then talks with Asuka about the relationship between Mizore and Yuuko, while Asuka cannot help herself but mention Kumiko and Reina's. During group practice Taki introduces Masahiro Hashimoto to the band. Hashimoto will be giving advice to the band so they can get even better for the next competition.
Chapter 3: Turbulent Flute[]
Turbulent Flute (はらんのフルート) sees Nozomi Kasaki appear. She comes to the bass section so that she can speak to Asuka, however Natsuki interrupts telling her she had to wait. Asuka also tell her off. Nozomi appears later at the end of a practice and asks Asuka for permission to join the band back. Which she dismisses saying it's not up to her.
