Sumiko Hirao (平尾 澄子 Hirao Sumiko) is a supporting character in the Sound! Euphonium series. She was a student at Kitauji High School one year above Kumiko Oumae who played tenor saxophone in the school's concert band. She became the saxophone section leader in her third year.
Appearance[]
Sumiko has long dark purple hair with long bangs that partially cover her right eye and a bun on the left side, she has dark blue eyes.
Etymology[]
- The name Sumiko means "clear, pure" (澄) (sumi) and "child" (子) (ko).
- Sumiko's surname Hirao means "flat, broad, level, even, peaceful" (平) (hira) and "tail, ridge" (尾) (o).
