Taichi Matoba (的場 太一 Matoba Taichi) is a character from the spin-off novel. He is a first-year trombonist in Rikka High School's concert band. He graduated from the same middle school as Shiho Togawa.

- The name Taichi means "thick, big, great" (太) (ta) and "one" (一) (ichi).
- Taichi's surname Matoba means "target, typical" (的) (mato) and "field, place" (場) (ba).
